Firstly, please introduce yourself
My name is Teresa Wu and I have been working as a frontend engineer for many years, in the video streaming industry, online education and Fintech. Besides work, I also mentor young engineers & students who just entered the IT industry, as well as providing career advice for engineers from the Google Women in Tech program.
What are you looking forward to at Women of Silicon Roundabout?
I am here to listen to other industry experts, and to connect with everyone who is passionate about IT.
What advice would you give to someone looking to step up their career in tech?
Your career is a combination of your day to day work, your friends and family and everything else you do outside work, therefore do well at your job, but don’t forget to develop yourself and keep learning.
What do you see as the biggest challenge currently facing women in technology?
Lack of mentors and role model in the field, especially when a female engineer is ready to step up to become a senior engineer / principle engineer / a manager to lead a team, they face various challenges in this process
The theme of the event is Resilience, what does resilience mean to you?
To keep it going and never give up!
Finally, what can attendees expect from your session at Women of Silicon Roundabout?
I am giving two talks at the event, one of them is tech oriented walking through the process of building and delivering a micro-frontend application, the audience might found it useful especially if they are also designing a large scale enterprise level application; another one is more general giving advice from my own experience on how to improve one’s interview skills.
Join Teresa Wu for her sessions “How To Succeed In Technical Interviews” and “Micro Frontends: Build & Automation” at Women of Silicon Roundabout on 22-23rd November.
