Speaker Bio

Becky is a Software Engineering Team Lead on the Live team at the BBC, responsible for managing and leading the Software Engineering team in the design, implementation, and operation of the Live pages across News, Sport, and Events.

Becky has been at the BBC for 9 years, coming in from an apprenticeship scheme. After two years on the scheme, she was successfully promoted to a Junior Software Engineer. From there, Becky has travelled through the engineering career path to become a Team Lead, always staying on the Live team as she enjoys the fast-paced nature and excitement that comes along with supporting large audience reaching events such as the Olympics and the World Cup.

One of Becky’s favourite parts of being a Team Lead is the people management aspect of the role. She enjoys spending time with the team and supporting others in their career development.

Fun Fact: Becky is an avid reader and will often consume books like they are going out of fashion.
