Abbie Currington
Abbie is a self-taught software developer and passionate advocate for women in technology. After graduating with a degree in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, where she realized that the chemical industry wasn’t right for her. This prompted her to teach herself to code, paving her own path, whilst navigating the uncertainties of entering a male-dominated field with few female role models.
In her first software role, the company Abbie worked for went bankrupt, forcing her to seek new opportunities during a global recession. Now at Ipsos, Abbie develops backend systems that analyze audio exposure, generating insights into media consumption, and drives the R&D of new algorithms to address industry challenges.
Having navigated multiple team restructures, she has contributed to various projects across different programming languages. Committed to continuous learning and fostering collaboration, Abbie looks forward to sharing her journey and inspiring others to embrace uncertainty in their early careers.
