Q&A w/ Clare Jones, Chief Executive Officer @ Polarsteps

Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us, Clare! First, please introduce yourself! 
Hi, I'm Clare, the CEO of Polarsteps. Polarsteps, the Amsterdam-based scale-up founded in 2015, has become an essential trip companion for over 10 million explorers worldwide. As an end-to-end app, it empowers travelers to plan, track, and relive their journeys in a uniquely smart and visually beautiful way. With a dedicated team of more than 50, the big mission is to lead a global shift towards more authentic, meaningful, and responsible travel. I've spent the last decade in startups and scaleups - as an operator and angel investor, and love being involved with big ideas that improve lives.  

What are you looking forward to at Women of Silicon Roundabout? 
I'm excited to spend time with such an impressive range of people from so many different companies, and to learn from their experiences 

What would be your advice to other women in tech who are coming up in the industry? 
To ask for advice! I've had some of the best conversations that have sparked long relationships because I reached out to people to ask for advice and they were so kind in offering it. 

Women of Silicon Roundabout is built on community; what advice would you give to our attendees on building your network and furthering your presence? 
To do things that feel a little uncomfortable as long as you're being authentically yourself - whether that's posting in public on social media, sharing learnings, getting on a stage - I found I could just be myself even if I was worried about people's reactions and this meant growing a network felt natural - just engaging with interesting people and keeping in touch!  

Finally, what can attendees expect from your session? 
I'm hoping to give a bit of an insight into the scaleup phase and things to think about as a company grows from a tiny team to a larger one.
