Q&A w/ Amanda Brock, CEO @ OpenUK

Q&A w/ Amanda Brock, CEO @ OpenUK

Hi Amanda! Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us and for speaking at Women of Silicon Roundabout! Firstly, please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit more about you and your career to date!

I’m privileged to lead the UK’s organisation for open tech, covering areas like open source AI and open source software. We’re an internationally employed community collaborating globally on deep tech. Before this I was a lawyer for 25 years starting my tech career in the early days of internet law. I’ve grown with our digital history.

What are you looking forward to at Women of Silicon Roundabout?

I'm looking forward to meeting other leaders based in the UK and hearing both about their projects and journeys.

What does the Leading the Digital Revolution theme mean to you?

The Digital revolution is no spring chicken! We’ve been championing it for decades in the UK but to lead it you have to stay at the forefront and constantly push the line forward. I’ve found that this means owning pushing change in the right direction and that won’t necessarily make you popular.

What can attendees expect from your session?

Experts who’ll talk to the elements of AI challenges that the audience need to know about in an accessible way.

What is your biggest prediction for 2025 for technology?

Seeing nation states close their borders to tech that’s not home grown and making global collaboration in response to unexpected geopolitical changes is likely, and the potential scale of this was unpredictable as the year began. Of course there’s a balance in that they must protect their citizens and enable digital stability but if we want the best innovation, a better society and access for all we mustn’t close our digital borders.

Register for your place to join Amanda Brock and thousands of other attendees at Women of Silicon Roundabout on 26 - 27th November now!
